    • e.g On 27 October 2007, Vladimir Petrovsky (former UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, and Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva), wrote: “Sri Chinmoy was convinced that true outer peace had to start with the inner peace of the individual. He has expressed this philosophy of peace in countless books, songs and paintings. His creative works, together with his multifarious peace-initiatives like the humanitarian relief operations, the Peace Concerts and the World Harmony Run represent an immense source of inspiration, wisdom, strength and practical guidance to people of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds. I regard Sri Chinmoy’s work as one of the real treasures of the 20th and 21st centuries; probably the most powerful pillar of a culture of peace that currently exists.”
    • As keynote speaker at the Celebration of the Life of Sri Chinmoy held at the United Nations on 30 October 2007, Anwarul Chowdhury, former Ambassador of Bangladesh to the UN, and UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative, said: “He is the finest example of a person who has a true vision of peace and one who has untiringly and selflessly inspired peace all over the world. He worked tirelessly to bring the different faiths together, and inspired many to emulate his example. An ardent supporter of the United Nations, Sri Chinmoy reminded all of us time and again not to lose sight of the soul of the United Nations.”
    • Jan Eliasson, Former President of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly (and later UN Deputy Secretary-General, 2012-2016). After receiving an award from Sri Chinmoy on 17 May 2006, Jan Eliasson said, “You have played an important role already, and you are going to play an important role because the values for which you stand and the message for which you stand are timeless and will go beyond the present….I want to pay my respects to you and assure you that your message is extremely powerful and that it will continue to last in this world. We need this message. We need to work for peace. We need to work for development, and we need to work for a life in dignity for all.”

Muller said he wanted to thank the Master “for everything you have done for so many years, but especially during this year of the 40th anniversary, when you have inspired so many people around the world. “

Excerpts from a statement made by Sri Chinmoy after receiving the United Nations’ fortieth anniversary medal from Mr. Robert Muller1

The United Nations is something that the Creator, the Author of all Good, at every moment cherishes. No human force will ever be able to destroy the United Nations, for the United Nations is not a mere building or a mere idea; it is not a man-made creation. The United Nations is the Vision-Light of the Absolute Supreme, which is slowly, steadily and unerringly illumining the ignorance-night of our human life. So the divine success and supreme progress of the United Nations are bound to become a reality. At His choice Hour, the Absolute Supreme will ring His own Victory-Bell here on earth through the loving and serving heart of the United Nations.
