Year 2000 : International Year of Thanksgiving begining Jan 01

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2000 as the International Year of Thanksgiving (IYT).

Members of the meditation Group were very involved with the early efforts  in the UN community to celebrate   International Days of Thanksgiving (starting in 1975) and World Gratitude Days ( beginning in 1977).

The Peace Meditation Group at the UN welcomed the recognition of Thanksgiving and Gratitude represented by the resolutions for 2000 by the UN General Assembly and others.

There were special stamps and other initiatives in support for the International Year of Thanksgiving.
