March 1980 report on events

  OUR FIRST TEN YEARS

With gratitude and appreciation to a lot of people who made it happen . . .

In the midst of the urgent, high-powered environment of United Nations headquarters, Sri Chinmoy has been working quietly to provide an atmosphere of inner peace for delegates, staff and others accredited to the world organisation.

Since 1970 his twice-weekly hour of inter-faith silence and the inspirational programmes of his meditation group have drawn participation from a wide variety of diplomats.

It was the late Secretary-General U Thant who welcomed and understood Sri Chinmoy’s desire to serve the United Nations community and SecretaryGeneral Kurt Waldheim has encouraged him to continue his work in support of the highest ideals of the United Nations Charter.
