On 1 (o2) January 1978, a Sri Chinmoy 10-Mile Run in benefit of UNICEF was held in Hamilton, Bermuda. The event attracted several former Olympic athletes among the 150 runners, which is believed to be the largest participation in Bermuda running history. The spirit of the UNICEF run was perfectly summed up by Mr. Jim Butterfield, the 2nd place winner, when he said: “This is more than an athletic event-this is like a family gathering.”

He who meditates, consciously dedicates his life to God.
He who dedicates his life to mankind, soulfully meditates on the real God.
His are the eyes that see Heaven on earth .

In him divinity and humanity are triumphantly blended.[*1]
