10 August         -Sri Chinmoy invited to meditate and offer a musical performance by the organisation which originally proposed the construction of a meditation room at the United Nations

16 September     -Dedication ceremony on U Thant Island, with U Thant’s family as guests of honour

02 October       -Sri Chinmoy received the Distinguished Service Award from the United Nations Association of the United States of America, fur his “public service in promoting the nationwide observance of U.N. Day 1077”

18 October      -Concert at Carnegie Hall, with members of the U.N. community as special guests
21 October       -Programme on the “Model U.N.,” a workshop designed to teach young people about the United Nations
22 October     -U.N. reception for international marathon runners. Sri Chinmoy and the Meditation Group were invited by UNAUSA and the New York Road Runners Club to open the programme with meditation and music. Meeting with Fred Lebow and Micky Gorman
